Outpatient Substance Use Disorder (SUD) & Mental Health Treatment Center Allentown, PA

Pyramid Healthcare, a national leader in behavioral health and addiction treatment, is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatrist to join our outpatient Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and Mental Health Treatment Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania. - Monday: 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Position Summary

The Psychiatrist provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, medication management, and ongoing behavioral health treatment services for individuals receiving mental health and substance use disorder treatment. This role collaborates closely with interdisciplinary treatment teams to deliver high-quality, person-centered care while ensuring compliance with professional, regulatory, and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, assessments, reassessments, and diagnostic reviews.

- Diagnose and treat psychiatric, mental health, and co-occurring substance use disorders.

- Prescribe, monitor, and manage psychotropic medications and other clinically appropriate treatment interventions.

- Review laboratory results and monitor medication-related health indicators as appropriate.

- Collaborate with therapists, nursing staff, primary care providers, specialists, pharmacies, and community partners to coordinate care.

- Participate in treatment planning, discharge planning, medication continuity, crisis intervention, and risk assessment activities.

- Provide clinical guidance and consultation to nursing and multidisciplinary treatment staff.

- Participate in peer review, utilization review, and quality improvement initiatives.

- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation in accordance with CARF, payer, licensing, and organizational requirements.

Required Qualifications

- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.

- Completion of an accredited Psychiatry residency program.

- Current unrestricted physician license in Pennsylvania or ability to obtain licensure.

- Active DEA registration.

- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in behavioral health, psychiatry, or substance use disorder treatment preferred.

- Knowledge of psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, psychopharmacology, and co-occurring disorders.

- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.

- Experience with electronic medical records and clinical documentation systems.

Preferred Qualifications

- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.

- Experience treating co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

- Familiarity with CARF, DDAP, OMHSAS, and other behavioral health regulatory standards.
