AWS Security Engineer - Guard Duty

$130K-$140k package | Australian Citizens only

Join a well-known enterprise organisation and play a key role in protecting and enhancing large-scale AWS cloud environments. This is an opportunity for a security-focused engineer who enjoys automation, cloud-native security tooling, infrastructure as code, and working with stakeholders across security, operations, and delivery teams.

You'll be responsible for implementing and improving security controls, enhancing monitoring and detection capabilities, and supporting compliance initiatives across a complex cloud environment.

The Role

As an AWS Security Engineer, you will:

- Configure and manage AWS security services including Security Hub, GuardDuty, and related security controls

- Design, implement, and optimise security alerts and monitoring capabilities

- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions for cloud security controls

- Develop automation to improve security visibility, reporting, and operational efficiency

- Collaborate with Security Operations, Engineering, and Delivery teams to uplift security practices

- Create and maintain security-related documentation, operational procedures, and response playbooks

- Support compliance, accreditation, and audit activities

- Raise and manage work items through Azure DevOps and ServiceNow

- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and security engineering forums

Key Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you'll ideally have:

- Experience working as a Security Engineer, Cloud Security Engineer, or similar role

- Strong AWS security experience across cloud-native security tooling

- Hands-on experience with Security Hub, GuardDuty, CloudTrail, IAM, and other AWS security services

- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar)

- Experience automating processes through APIs and scripting

- Exposure to Azure DevOps (ADO) and ServiceNow

- Strong documentation and stakeholder engagement skills

- Experience supporting security compliance and governance initiatives

- A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently

Desirable Experience

Experience working with or supporting compliance requirements aligned to:

- Essential Eight

- ISM (Information Security Manual)

- PSPF (Protective Security Policy Framework)

- Australian Government security accreditation processes
