Rooms Manager, IKEA Älmhult AB
Inter IKEA Group · Älmhult, Sweden
Älmhult is where IKEA began, and where we continue to challenge ourselves to find better ways forward.
People from all over the world come here to work, live, visit and experience the destination Älmhult and IKEA. It is a place where ideas become reality, where different perspectives meet and where we work together to create experiences that matter to co-workers, guests and the many people.
At IKEA Älmhult AB, around 270 co-workers develop and operate IKEA Museum, IKEA Hotell, restaurants, meeting places and experiences that make Älmhult a destination in its own right. As we continue to grow and develop, we are looking for people who want to be part of the journey.
And this is where you come in.
Great guest experiences start long before a guest arrives. They start with engaged people, thoughtful planning and creating the right conditions for every guest to feel welcome, comfortable and cared for. As Rooms Manager, you will lead and develop the Rooms function at IKEA Hotell, with responsibility for Reception, Housekeeping, guest experience, occupancy and operational performance.
You will have direct people management responsibility for our Reception Manager and Housekeeping Leader, supporting them in developing their teams, strengthening performance and improving ways of working. Our housekeeping services are primarily delivered by an external supplier, making close collaboration and clear quality follow-up an important part of the role.
You will also play an important role in shaping the future of IKEA Hotell. As we prepare to open our new hotel in 2028, you will contribute to the development of operations, guest journeys and ways of working that reflect IKEA values and meet the needs of tomorrow's guests.
By working closely with Sales & Booking and colleagues across the organisation, you will secure optimised occupancy, improve the use of room and meeting capacity and contribute to strong business performance. Success in the role will be reflected in satisfied guests, engaged teams and sustainable business results.
In this role You will:
- Lead and support the Reception Manager and Housekeeping Leader, helping them build high-performing teams and strong daily operations in our hotel, museums and conference facilities.
- Drive occupancy and capacity utilisation through proactive planning, forecasting and collaboration across the business.
- Strengthen quality, service standards and operational efficiency together with our external housekeeping partner.
- Identify and implement improvements that strengthen guest journeys, operational performance and ways of working.
- Help shape the future of IKEA Hotell ahead of the opening in 2028, working across IKEA Älmhult AB to develop operations, strengthen the destination offer and create great experiences for guests in the spirit of true Älmhultish hospitality.
We are looking for an engaged, business-minded and down-to-earth leader who enjoys developing people, improving performance and creating great guest experiences.
You bring experience from hospitality, hotel operations or another guest-focused service business. You are comfortable making decisions based on data and insights, creating engagement around shared goals and balancing the needs of guests, teams and the business.
You know how to develop leaders and teams, strengthen performance and build strong collaboration across teams and functions.
We believe you have:
- Experience leading leaders, teams or larger operational functions in service-oriented environments.
- Strong business understanding and experience working with budgets, occupancy, capacity planning or similar performance measures.
- Ability to analyse information, identify opportunities and turn insights into actions and decisions.
- Experience improving operational performance through changes in routines, processes or ways of working.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and work effectively across teams and functions.
- Ability to lead change and create engagement around new ways of working.
This is an opportunity to lead a key part of shaping the future of IKEA and hospitality in Älmhult. With a new IKEA Hotell planned for 2028, you will play an important role in developing teams, operations and guest experiences for the years ahead. If you are excited by the opportunity to build, improve and lead through others, we would love to hear from you.
We recruit based on values, competence, potential and diversity, and we welcome applications from people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.
Please submit your application no later than 15 November. Apply with your CV only – there is no need to submit a cover letter. Instead, you will have the opportunity to tell us more about your experience through the screening questions in the application system. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible, as interviews may begin before the application deadline.
As we continue to support co-workers through organisational change, internal candidates may be considered alongside external applicants throughout the process. At the same time, we are excited to welcome new perspectives and experiences and look forward to hearing from candidates both within and outside IKEA.
