Three Rivers Community Action is seeking a Bilingual Client Support Specialist (Somali/English) to provide welcoming, responsive support to program participants, community members, and staff in our Rochester office. As a primary point of contact, you'll help individuals connect with programs and resources, navigate paperwork and referrals, and access services by providing interpretation and translation support when needed.

A successful candidate is comfortable working with people from a variety of backgrounds, managing multiple priorities, protecting confidential information, and remaining calm and resourceful when challenges arise.
About the Role
As the Bilingual Client Support Specialist, you'll support the day-to-day operations of the Rochester office while helping create a professional and welcoming experience for participants and visitors. You'll answer calls, greet and assist visitors, provide information and referrals, help participants complete paperwork, maintain records and data, and provide general administrative support.
A key part of this position is providing Somali/English interpretation and translation support, helping ensure clear communication between participants and staff and improving access to services for individuals with limited English proficiency.
This full-time position (40 hours per week) is Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm and will be based in Rochester.
What You'll Do
- Serve as a first point of contact for calls, visitors, emails, and other communications
- Greet and assist program participants, community members, visitors, and staff
- Provide information, referrals, and assistance related to available programs and services
- Help participants complete required paperwork or applications
- Provide Somali/English interpretation during in-person interactions, phone calls, meetings, and other situations as needed
- Translate written materials and documents to support communication and access to services
- Enter, track, and process referrals and maintain accurate participant records and documentation
- Assist with data entry and review information for accuracy and completeness
- Provide administrative support including filing, scanning, copying, mailings, and document organization
- Help maintain a professional and welcoming front desk and reception area
- Support de-escalation and problem-solving when participant concerns or challenging situations arise
- Work collaboratively with Client Support staff and other programs to provide office coverage and responsive participant support
- Assist with office supplies, mail, deliveries, building needs, and other day-to-day office operations
Qualifications
- Bilingual Somali/English skills required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of experience in customer service or a role involving direct contact with the public
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Accurate typing and data entry skills
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams proficiency preferred
- Experience using common office equipment such as printers, scanners, and multi-line phone systems preferred
