Marketing Manager

ElectronX · Chicago

Who are we?

ElectronX™ is the first U.S.-regulated, direct access electricity derivatives market, offering financial products to address volatile short-term price exposure to electricity. With offices in Chicago and New York City, ElectronX is building the missing financial infrastructure and risk management tools necessary to smooth the path for U.S. energy production, diversification and grid expansion in a time of rapidly increasing power demand.

ElectronX is a venture capital-backed startup supported by premier VC partners including Innovation Endeavors, Systemiq Capital, Equinor Ventures, Shell Ventures LLC, DCVC, Amplo, BoxGroup and Lightning Capital.

Who are we looking for?

As a fast-growing company in the highly competitive, quantitative capital markets industry, ElectronX values candidates who are resourceful, curious and adaptable to change. Our cultural focus on innovation requires collaborative and entrepreneurial teammates with the intellectual grit necessary for near- and long-term success.

We're looking for a Marketing Manager to build ElectronX's brand and growth function from scratch. Reporting directly to our CEO, you'll set the plan and do the work yourself: run our client and sales events, create the materials our sales team relies on, manage our website and digital channels, and shape the brand of a new market. There is no fixed playbook. You'll have room to bring new ideas and the ownership to see them through, within the standards of a regulated exchange.

This is a hands-on role on a team of one. You'll be as comfortable shipping event materials and solving a problem the night before a seminar as you are writing for sophisticated institutional audiences or planning the year ahead with our CEO. Your work will help more of the market know who ElectronX is and what we do, give our sales team what it needs to open new accounts, and tell the story of a fast-growing market as our product roadmap accelerates. Travel to industry events is expected.

What will you be doing?

BUILD THE FUNCTION

- Build ElectronX's marketing plan, priorities and processes from the ground up, and evolve them as the company grows

- Set marketing goals and KPIs with the CEO, report on results, and recommend where to invest next

- Choose and manage the agencies, tools and vendors the function runs on

EVENTS

- Plan and execute an annual calendar of 12–15 client and sales events, including industry conferences, self-hosted roundtables and half-day seminars

- Own each event end to end, from line-item budgets and logistics (materials, shipping, AV, swag) to staffing booths on site

- Partner with sales and the CEO to assess which events are worth the spend

- Over time, develop ElectronX's own flagship programs, such as an industry gathering focused on quantitative power trading

SALES ENABLEMENT & CONTENT

- Build a consistent weekly message with the CEO that combines market highlights, product releases and company news, and equip sales to deliver it

- Turn the CEO's recurring sales themes into emails, documents and website updates

- Audit, create and maintain sales collateral, including sales sheets, videos and email campaigns, so sales has what it needs for every conversation

PRODUCT LAUNCHES

- Partner with Product to build a repeatable launch process so every release reaches customers on a planned, coordinated schedule

- Turn new features and APIs into clear customer-facing materials, such as one-pagers, release notes and demo videos

- Support press announcements for launches in partnership with Communications

GROWTH & NEW AUDIENCES

- Design and test programs that reach new power market participants, such as data centers, crypto miners and quantitative traders

- Build university relationships that extend ElectronX's reach with the next generation of power traders

- Experiment with new channels and formats in partnership with Communications

DIGITAL, SOCIAL & WEBSITE

- Own the ElectronX website and manage the relationship and budget with our web agency

- Run the social media and editorial content calendar in partnership with Communications

- Manage digital marketing in HubSpot, including email campaigns, lists and landing pages, and track followers, engagement and inbound

BRAND

- Shape brand messaging and set brand standards so every event, digital, social and sales asset looks and sounds consistent

- Partner with Communications to keep the brand voice aligned across marketing and media

- Move all external material through compliance review on time
