About the Role
The Human Resources Manager leads the day-to-day HR function at Giovanni Food Company and serves as a trusted resource for employees, managers, and company leadership. This role touches nearly every part of the employee experience—from employee relations, performance management, benefits, compliance, training, and workforce planning.
We’re looking for an HR leader who is visible, approachable, and comfortable working directly with people at all levels of the organization. This role requires sound judgment, confidentiality, strong organization, and the ability to balance employee needs with business priorities.
What You’ll Do
-
Lead the day-to-day HR function and serve as a trusted resource for employees, supervisors, managers, and leadership on workplace policies, employment matters, and people-related issues.
-
Build and manage the recruiting process from identifying staffing needs through successful onboarding, including maintaining job descriptions, managing candidate pipelines, coordinating offers and pre-employment requirements, and developing recruiting strategies for hard-to-fill positions.
-
Guide employee relations and performance management by addressing employee concerns, conducting and documenting investigations, coaching managers through performance issues and disciplinary actions, and ensuring policies and practices are applied consistently.
-
Own the employee experience from onboarding through offboarding, ensuring new employees receive the proper documentation, training, benefits information, system access, and support, while also managing separation processes and exit interviews.
-
Oversee benefits and HR-related payroll processes, including benefit administration, employee questions and changes, compensation information, payroll changes, timekeeping-related updates, and coordination with payroll and benefit providers.
-
Maintain HR compliance and documentation, including employee records, policies, the employee handbook, required postings, notices, and compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations.
-
Partner closely with Operations and Safety to understand staffing needs, monitor absenteeism, turnover, vacancies, overtime, and workforce gaps, and develop strategies that support production and workforce stability.
-
Develop supervisors and managers through training, coaching, and practical guidance in employee relations, performance management, documentation, interviewing, hiring, leadership, and workplace policies.
-
Manage formal employee accommodation processes and work with outside employment counsel when needed, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality and sound judgment.
-
Monitor and report HR metrics including headcount, vacancies, time-to-fill, turnover, attendance, overtime, workers’ compensation, leave activity, employee-relations matters, and training completion.
-
Help strengthen the workplace culture by promoting accountability, respect, teamwork, open communication, and consistent people practices across the organization.
-
Identify opportunities for improvement and provide leadership with practical recommendations related to staffing, retention, employee relations, compliance, and workforce planning.
