Senior Applied AI Engineer

Location: New York, NY (onsite, 5 days)
Pay: $220,000–$300,000 + equity
A fast-growing, venture-backed software and payments company is hiring an applied AI engineer to build agents its customers use every day. Each engineer owns a full product area, and work reaches customers the same week it's written.
What you'll do
- Build production LLM agents for pricing, marketing and reporting
- Extract structured data from messy real-world documents
- Build embedding-based matching and retrieval
- Own the evaluation and tracing harnesses
- Take models from prototype to production, shipping weekly
What you bring
- 5+ years building and shipping AI products
- Strong TypeScript and/or Python
- Experience across the full AI lifecycle, including evals
- Uses AI coding tools to work in parallel
- BS, MS or PhD in CS or related, or equivalent experience
Nice to have: LLM context and harness engineering; LLM observability tooling; Postgres with vector search
