We are looking for a talented Senior Electrical Project Engineer, who is responsible for overseeing electrical engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring technical excellence and project success. This role will act as project leader, directing supporting engineers and assisting in leading design reviews. Additionally, the Senior Electrical Project Engineer will mentor new engineers, fostering their development and adherence to best practices.

Main Responsibilities:

- Knowledge of instrumentation, transducers, control systems, three phase power systems, motion control, and motor drive technologies to operate resources as required.

- Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, to use applications and perform programming.

- Selection of components and creation of BOMs in the ERP system (Epicor).

- Design industrial test equipment, control systems, and automated machines for the transportation industry.

- Act as lead electrical engineer on custom engineered projects.

- Design complete electrical and control systems including the integration of multiple subsystems.

- Develop electrical architectures, control panels, power distribution systems, and machine control systems.

- Specify and integrate VFDs, servomotors, sensors, instrumentation, and control systems.

- Create and review electrical schematics, panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.

- Act as project leader while leading/directing additional engineers who assist with the project.

- Assist in leading design reviews for practical evaluation of other engineers' projects.

- Act as mentor for new engineers.

- Review electrical designs, schematics, and technical documentation produced by other engineers.

- Perform preliminary electrical designs and develop specifications necessary to support equipment and system modifications that improve safety, reliability, and performance.

- Conceptualize and design electrical systems from customer specifications.

- Conduct feasibility studies, analytical calculations, create and modify drawings, create and modify bills of materials, and create and modify product manuals.

- Perform power system calculations, motor sizing, circuit protection analysis, control system evaluations, and electrical troubleshooting.

- Meet cost, manufacturing, and key milestone targets for products designed and developed.

- Work with engineers, technicians, and program managers to obtain and/or define system requirements and specifications.

- Serve as a primary technical resource for assigned new and existing products and equipment.

- Support equipment commissioning, startup activities, and customer acceptance testing.

- Maintain proper documentation related to products and projects.

- Correspond and interface with customers and vendors.

- Evaluate and conceptualize development projects to assist Sales/Proposals in determining feasibility and cost.

- Ensure work is performed in a safe manner using all available safety equipment.

- All other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

- Minimum of 10 years of related work experience in industrial controls, electrical system design, automation, or machine design.

- Minimum of 10 years of experience designing complex electrical systems and automation equipment.

- Minimum of 10 years of experience with VFDs, servo drives, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems.

- Minimum of 5 years of experience troubleshooting technical and operative issues and determining possible reasons for malfunction

- Minimum of 3 years of experience with electrical CAD software such as AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar platforms.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

- Strong knowledge of industrial power distribution, motor controls, and machine safety systems.

- Demonstrated competence in the design of electrical and electromechanical systems.

- Knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 79, UL 508A, and applicable electrical safety standards.

- Strong electrical troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.

- Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, supervisors, and employees.

- Able to prepare complex written reports and other technical documentation.

- Experience in industrial test systems, transportation testing, automotive testing, or manufacturing automation

- Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, and interpersonal.

- Strong Microsoft Office skills.
