ABOUT THE ROLE
Solink is looking for a Field Marketing Specialist to execute our trade show and field event program across North America. Our buyers: loss prevention leaders, operators, franchise owners, and IT decision-makers, show up in person at industry conferences, regional roadshows, partner events, and our own Solink Summit, and this is the role that makes sure we show up better than anyone else on the floor.
You’ll own individual events end-to-end: contracts and deadlines, booth logistics, shipping, staffing plans, on-site set-up and tear-down, lead capture, and the post-event report. You’ll run the pre-show outreach and post-show follow-up that turn a booth into booked meetings, partner closely with Sales and SDRs on meeting targets by territory, and keep lead data clean enough that we can tell which events are actually worth the money.
This role suits someone who thrives on logistics and deadlines but thinks like a marketer, the person who catches the shipping deadline everyone else missed, works autonomously within a defined calendar, escalates risks early rather than late, and comes to their manager with recommendations rather than just problems. Expect roughly 25–35% travel, concentrated in event season.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Event Execution
- Own assigned trade shows, conferences, and field events end-to-end: contracts and deadlines, booth space and design, shipping and drayage, staffing plans, hotel blocks, giveaways, signage, AV, and demo stations.
- Build the event brief for each show — goals, target accounts, messaging, staffing roster, run of show, and success metrics — so everyone attending knows what they’re there to do.
- Travel to major events to lead on-site execution, including set-up and tear-down, booth staffing, troubleshooting, and keeping the team on schedule.
- Maintain the event asset inventory — booth properties, collateral, demo hardware, branded merchandise — in show-ready condition between events.
Pipeline & Follow-Through
- Run pre-show outreach and meeting-booking campaigns in partnership with Sales and SDRs, including target account lists and talk tracks for reps working the booth.
- Own lead capture and data hygiene end-to-end: scanner configuration, list cleanup, CRM and marketing automation routing, campaign attribution, and handoff to Sales within SLA.
- Execute structured post-show follow-up sequences so leads don’t go cold between the show floor and the first call.
- Deliver a post-event report on every show — cost per lead, cost per meeting, influenced and sourced pipeline, and a recommendation on whether to return.
Vendors, Budget & Regional Support
- Manage day-to-day relationships with booth vendors, shipping and fulfillment partners, promotional product suppliers, venues, and event organizers.
- Track spend against the event budget, flag variances early, and find ways to stretch budget without diluting Solink’s presence.
- Support localized programs that back specific territories — regional webinars, customer dinners, lunch-and-learns, and co-marketing activity with channel partners and integrators.
- Support Solink Summit and other company-hosted events alongside the broader marketing team.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOU
- 1–2 years of B2B field marketing, event marketing, or demand generation experience, including hands-on ownership of trade shows or conferences, ideally in SaaS or technology.
- A track record of running multiple events in parallel without dropping details — deadlines, shipping windows, and vendor commitments are your responsibility and you don’t need reminding.
- Comfort working autonomously within a defined calendar and playbook: you make day-to-day decisions yourself, manage your own deadlines, and escalate risks early rather than after they’ve landed.
- Experience with CRM and marketing automation tooling (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) and lead capture tools, with the discipline to keep event data clean and attributable.
- Commercial instincts — you measure events by meetings and pipeline, not badge scans, and you can explain what a show returned.
- Strong written and verbal communication; you can brief a sales team, write pre-show copy, and hold a vendor to a deadline with equal confidence.
- Willingness to travel across Canada and the United States roughly 25–35% of the time, including occasional weekends during event season, with valid documentation to do so.
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule from our Ottawa office.
NICE TO HAVES
- Experience marketing to multi-location operators — restaurant, retail, convenience, or franchise businesses.
- Familiarity with event management platforms (e.g., Cvent, Splash).
- Exposure to channel or partner co-marketing, including MDF.
- Background in security, loss prevention, or hardware-plus-software products.
- Design familiarity (Figma, Canva, or Adobe) for quick turnarounds on signage and collateral.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
This is a P2 level role. At Solink, individuals at this level are intermediates who can go beyond the basics by working autonomously to make small decisions, work on projects, and make recommendations. They can effectively execute on tasks and initiatives with direction provided.
In this role, you’ll be expected to:
- Execute initiatives and tasks while receiving general direction from your manager.
- Identify opportunities for increased team effectiveness, and identify, articulate, and propose solutions to problems.
- Actively apply feedback to improve performance, anticipate potential issues, and take responsibility for delivering consistent, reliable outcomes.
- Develop strong working relationships within your team and begin building cross-functional relationships, sharing knowledge and learnings with peers.
- Seek input from relevant stakeholders to ensure quality work.
- Manage your own deadlines reliably and escalate risks early.
- Understand and respect team priorities versus personal tasks.
What success looks like:
- Events that run without surprises — deadlines met, assets on site, staffing covered, and your manager not having to ask where things stand.
- Pre-show outreach and post-show follow-up executed consistently on every event, with booked-meeting targets hit and leads in the hands of Sales within SLA.
- Event data clean and complete enough that the team can make real budget decisions from your post-event reporting.
- Vendor and logistics issues handled at your level, with early flags to your manager on anything that could affect budget or presence.
- Improvements you’ve spotted and proposed showing up in how the team plans events going forward.
SECURITY REQUIREMENTS
- Candidates must undergo a criminal records check upon hire;
- Be a Canadian Citizen (dual citizens included), or eligib
