What You Will Be Doing:This position serves as the statewide educator apprenticeship coordinator. This position serves as the subject matter expert, division lead, and primary point of contact for Universities, School Districts, Apprentices, and Mentor/Journey workers for the Department of Education and Early Development educator apprenticeship program. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring program compliance while supporting participants in understanding and meeting all program requirements. The educator apprenticeship program supports districts in growing skilled educators from existing local workforce to meet teacher vacancy and turnover needs across the state, and the Apprenticeship Coordinator is a key resource in supporting districts in meeting apprenticeship goals.

The Division of Innovation and Education Excellence is seeking a Program Coordinator 2 to join the Teacher Certification team to lead the work of implementing Alaska's statewide educator apprenticeship program and to support approved districts and universities in meeting state and federal apprenticeship requirements while providing high-quality educator preparation programming to apprentices.

DEED offices are conveniently located either on the 9th floor of the State Office Building in downtown Juneau, or on the 8th floor of the Atwood building in Anchorage. The position has the opportunity for flexible scheduling and teleworking to promote work/life balance. There may be travel opportunities associated with this job both in and out of state.
