You will manage Business Owners and business analysts, translate business needs into prioritized requirements and backlogs, and partner with IT and vendors for technical delivery.
This role provides the opportunity to simplify the R&D application landscape, improve data quality and decision support, expand the effective use of Power BI and other business platforms, and deliver measurable value through standardized solutions, common ways of working, and disciplined application lifecycle management.
You will be responsible for:
Lead Business Systems Strategy and Governance
- Define, communicate, and execute the product vision, governance model, multi-year roadmap, technology stack, and capital investment strategy for R&D business systems and analytics.
- Own product-side governance and budget for non-GxP R&D applications and data platforms where R&D is the primary business owner, including project portfolio management, dashboards, scorecards, and related business solutions.
- Align application roadmaps with the R&D pipeline, business priorities, budget, and IT strategy while considering downstream impacts to Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Post-Market systems.
- Drive application rationalization, platform harmonization, and common ways of working to reduce tool fragmentation, support complexity, and total cost.
Own the Application and Data Lifecycle
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of assigned R&D applications and master data domains, from intake, evaluation, selection, and design through deployment, sustainment, value realization, and retirement.
- Provide product ownership for business systems, including configuration decisions, release prioritization, roadmap alignment, user experience, adoption, and value realization.
- Gather, define, and prioritize business requirements; translate needs into technical requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and prioritized backlogs.
- Partner with Technical Product Owners, IT, vendors, and internal engineering teams to coordinate resources and deliver scalable, secure, compliant, and sustainable solutions.
- Serve as the primary R&D technology contact and business escalation point for assigned business applications, including configuration, connectivity, account access, non-GxP data management, and effective use of tools.
Advance Analytics and Master Data
- Lead business ownership and analytics support for Power BI reporting, dashboards, scorecards, user interfaces, and other decision-support capabilities.
- Drive master data strategy and lifecycle management for critical R&D data domains, including definitions, governance, stewardship, quality, and standards.
- Establish and oversee data quality practices, including profiling, validation rules, issue remediation workflows, and root cause analysis for recurring defects.
- Support harmonized data models, definitions, and reference data standards across R&D systems.
- Partner with IT and enterprise architecture teams to define and govern integrations and data flows, including appropriate data lineage, traceability, and downstream impact considerations.
- Identify and advance data-driven and AI-assisted solutions that improve digital R&D applications, business insight, and operational efficiency.
Lead People, Delivery, and Partnerships
- Lead and develop a team of Business Owners, business analysts, employees, and contractors supporting assigned R&D applications and data products.
- Coach business analysts and cross-functional product teams in Agile practices, including Scrum or Kanban, to deliver iterative business value.
- Manage relationships with vendors and internal delivery teams, including solution scoping, procurement support, delivery oversight, service performance, and issue escalation.
- Own budget planning, forecasting, and spending oversight for assigned applications, platforms, and vendor services; develop business cases for new programs and investments.
- Partner with R&D, IT, cybersecurity, Quality, Regulatory, Design Quality, Information Security & Risk Management, Technology Quality, Manufacturing Quality, and Supply Chain stakeholders.
- Lead continuous user engagement, feedback loops, user groups, communications, training, and change management to maximize adoption and value.
- Define and report meaningful KPIs and outcomes, including adoption, data quality, delivery cadence, cost reduction, tool reduction, availability, and program-specific measures.
