Senior Financial Management Analyst – FBWT & Advana
CSCI Consulting · Remote
Job Description
CSCI Consulting is looking for a Senior Financial Management Analyst to support our Department of War (DoW / DoD) client. In this role, the consultant will support FBWT reconciliation, financial data quality, and audit readiness activities. The analyst will focus on improving the accuracy of Advana FBWT reporting by researching undistributed transactions, identifying data ingestion and reconciliation issues, and tracing financial information across DoD accounting, entitlement, and reporting systems. Candidates should have a strong foundation in DoD financial reporting and business processes, familiarity with systems such as GFEBS, DEAMS, NERP, MOCAS, DCAS, and DCPS, and experience using Advana, Databricks, and SQL to analyze and reconcile financial data.
Responsibilities
- Support the review, validation, and cleanup of Advana FBWT dashboards, including investigation and resolution of undistributed transactions and data discrepancies
- Analyze financial data across DoD accounting, entitlement, and reporting systems to identify reconciliation issues, data ingestion errors, and potential causes of inaccurate dashboard metrics
- Trace financial transactions from Advana reporting outputs back to applicable source accounting and entitlement systems to validate completeness and accuracy
- Develop and execute Databricks/SQL queries to analyze large financial datasets, isolate exceptions, research transactions, and support reconciliation activities
- Support analysis of DoD financial statements and related financial reporting, including DD 1307, DD 1002, SF 133, and Standard Financial Information Structure (SFIS) Lines of Accounting (LOA)
- Apply an understanding of end-to-end DoD financial business processes, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and financial reporting, to identify where data or transaction discrepancies originate
- Support audit engagements by assisting with sample populations, data standardization, transaction research, and alignment of audit samples with applicable business processes and financial systems
- Investigate undistributed and unreconciled transactions and coordinate research across the appropriate financial, accounting, entitlement, and reporting environments
- Assess data-quality issues that may result in overstated or understated financial metrics and help determine the underlying source of discrepancies
- Document data anomalies, reconciliation results, root causes, and corrective actions to improve the reliability and traceability of financial information
- Support leadership reporting and analysis related to materiality, financial reporting risk, audit readiness, and consolidated DoD financial reporting
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Active Secret clearance or higher
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management and accounting, preferably within a federal or defense-related environment
- DoD financial statements and reporting, including DD 1307, DD 1002, SF 133, and SFIS/LOA structures
- Fund Balance with Treasury (FBWT) reconciliation concepts, including undistributed transactions and reconciliation between reporting tools and authoritative accounting systems
- DoD audit engagements, including financial data populations, sampling, supporting documentation, and alignment of samples to applicable processes and systems
- End-to-end DoD financial process flows, particularly Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), and financial reporting
- Advana and its use for DoD financial data analysis and reporting
- Creativity and adaptability in problem-solving
- Ability to work with clients to understand their needs
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Professional presence
Preferred Skills
- Experience using SQL within Databricks or a comparable data analytics environment to conduct financial-data analysis
- Data reconciliation, exception analysis, root-cause analysis, and data-quality validation across multiple interconnected financial systems
- DoD financial, accounting, entitlement, and reporting environments, with familiarity with applicable systems
- Demonstrated ability to analyze information across multiple source systems and determine the cause of discrepancies between source-system data and reporting outputs
- Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently
- Strong customer and vendor relationship skills
- Demonstrated ability to comply with data standards and policies
- Motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies that demonstrate value
