At Beam, we’re building AI that serves society.

We're a global team of ambitious, hardworking problem solvers, applying fast-moving startup energy to work that makes the world a better place. If you want to apply your talent to the biggest problems society faces, Beam is the place for you.

You’ll be part of a high-performance culture where you'll make a huge impact, rapidly progress your career, and truly enjoy your work.

Over 100,000 frontline workers already use Beam to take notes, provide live interpretation and handle phone calls, so they can focus on the people who need them most. This is just the beginning.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Frontline workers do some of society’s hardest, most consequential work. Yet the tools they rely on are often clunky, outdated and poorly designed.

Our challenge is to bring the world’s most advanced technology to some of society’s most complex, human problems — without making the technology itself feel complex. It should feel ‘dictaphone simple’: something anyone can pick up, use without thinking, and put down again, trusting that it’s done its job. And it should be designed with the same care, craft and delight as the best consumer products.

Beam Notes already saves over 100,000 frontline workers hours of admin every week — and caseworkers tell us it makes the job feel human again, with more time to focus on people, not paperwork.

Now we’re bringing that same approach to new products and users. To do that we’re building out a world-class design team - so if the challenge of creating beautifully simple tools powered by cutting edge technology sounds up your street, we’d love to meet you.

You will:

- Own design end-to-end, working closely with product and engineering. That means talking to users, taking ideas from sketch to delightful software, shipping frequently and iterating.

- Design with engineers on AI capabilities, translating what the latest models can do into practical, high-impact product features

- Talk directly to users in the field, visiting caseworkers and social workers, watching how they actually work, and feeding that back into design decisions

- Evolve our design system, creating new patterns and conventions where none exist yet

- Craft beautiful interactions so the product feels fast, reliable and a pleasure to use

You are:

- A product-first generalist who's cut their teeth at a fast-paced startup or product-led tech company

- Data-informed and outcome-focused, balancing high-fidelity craft with quick mock-ups that engineers can build from

- Great at translating ambiguity into simple flows, you untangle vague, conceptual problems into interfaces people immediately understand

- A confident communicator and storyteller, able to align a room around a direction using both visuals and data

- Someone with strong beliefs, loosely held, a good listener who takes feedback well and reaches better decisions because of it

- Comfortable working directly with engineers and PMs, sparring on trade-offs and briefs that raise more questions than answers

- Motivated by the mission, excited by the idea that your work directly improves essential public services
