Long Service Leave Specialist

Ramsay Health Care · Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Ramsay Health Care, a global operator of private hospitals and primary care clinics with over 70 Australian sites employing over 34,000 people. We have been focused on delivering high-quality patient care and practising the Ramsay Way philosophy of ‘People Caring for People’ since 1964.

Ramsay Health Care is seeking an experienced Long Service Leave Specialist to lead the transformation and establishment of a new national operating model for long service leave (LSL).

This is an exciting opportunity for a management consultant or transformation specialist with a solid understanding of long service leave to drive meaningful change across a large, complex organisation.

Working within our Payroll Governance function, you will partner with key stakeholders across Payroll, Finance, Employee Relations, Legal and Technology to simplify processes, strengthen governance and improve consistency across the organisation.

We are looking for someone who can see the bigger picture, challenge existing ways of working and translate complex business requirements into practical, sustainable solutions. While an understanding of long service leave is important, this role is less about detailed technical interpretation and more about operating model design, process transformation, stakeholder engagement and implementation.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager – Payroll Projects, you will lead the review, design and implementation of a future-state national operating model for long service leave.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Operating model design: Assess current processes and practices, identify gaps and inefficiencies, and develop a fit-for-purpose national operating model.

- Transformation and implementation: Develop and deliver a structured transformation plan to transition from inconsistent, manual processes to a more standardised and sustainable approach.

- Process improvement: Map end-to-end processes, identify root causes of issues and implement practical solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy and consistency.

- Governance and controls: Establish clear roles, responsibilities, decision-making frameworks, escalation pathways and controls to support effective ongoing management of long service leave.

- Stakeholder engagement: Build strong relationships across Payroll, Finance, Employee Relations, Legal, Technology and other business functions to align requirements and drive outcomes.

- Systems and automation: Work with technology teams to identify opportunities to improve system capability, reduce manual intervention and support more reliable processes.

- Risk and compliance: Ensure the operating model appropriately considers legislative obligations, industrial instruments, organisational policies and relevant compliance requirements.

- Change management: Support the successful implementation of the new model through stakeholder communication, training, documentation and knowledge transfer.

- Continuous improvement: Establish a framework for ongoing monitoring, review and improvement of long service leave processes and performance.

About you

You are a commercially minded transformation professional who enjoys solving complex business problems and turning them into clear, practical solutions. You can navigate ambiguity, engage stakeholders at different levels and lead change in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.

You will ideally bring:

- Experience in management consulting, business transformation, operating model design, process improvement or a similar role.

- A sound overarching understanding of long service leave, ideally within a large or complex organisation.

- Demonstrated experience reviewing current-state operations and designing and implementing future-state operating models.

- Strong process mapping, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop sustainable solutions.

- Experience working across multiple business functions to build alignment, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes.

- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and gain buy-in from senior leaders and operational teams.

- Experience delivering change, including implementation planning, process documentation, training and embedding new ways of working.

- The ability to balance governance, compliance and risk requirements with operational efficiency and practical business needs.

Why join Ramsay Health Care?

This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact by shaping how a complex payroll entitlement is managed across a national organisation. You will have the opportunity to influence the future operating model, work with a broad range of stakeholders and deliver improvements that strengthen governance, simplify processes and support a more consistent employee experience.

If you are a transformation professional who enjoys bringing structure to complexity and delivering sustainable change, we would love to hear from you.
