The Chambers College of Business and Economics' Center for Career Development at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Hybrid Part-Time Alumni Relations Manager.
About the Opportunity
The Alumni Relations Manager leads the Chambers College's alumni outreach and relationship-building strategy, expanding the network of alumni who are actively engaged with the college and its students. This role identifies and cultivates alumni across industries, regions, and career stages; develops an understanding of their interests and expertise; and creates meaningful pathways for alumni to contribute to the college through mentoring, volunteering, networking, speaking engagements, and other forms of involvement.
Through personalized outreach, stewardship, and engagement experiences, the position strengthens alumni affinity and fosters lifelong connections to the Chambers College. By building and sustaining these relationships, the role expands opportunities for students and fellow alumni to benefit from alumni expertise, mentorship, and professional networks while supporting the college's long-term engagement, reputation, and philanthropic goals.
The Alumni Relations Manager works closely with the Dean, Director of Development, and other key stakeholders to identify, engage, and steward alumni whose involvement advances the college's strategic priorities.

What You'll Do
Alumni Outreach & Relationship Development - 50%
- Proactively identify and reach out to Chambers College alumni to build new relationships and reconnect with lapsed ones, through calls, campus visits, regional events, and referrals from faculty, staff, and current alumni.
- Conduct one-on-one discovery conversations to learn alumni's professional background, interests, and capacity for engagement.
- Build and maintain a robust, current base of alumni relationships that reflects the full breadth of the college's class years, industries, and regions.
- Represent the college at alumni gatherings, regional chapter events, and reunions to expand the network of alumni available to Chambers College students and fellow alumni.
Alumni Stewardship & Personalized Engagement - 20%
- Design and host stewardship experiences, such as small dinners, campus visits, and individual meetings, that connect highly engaged alumni with students, faculty, and fellow alumni.
- Maintain ongoing, personal relationships with the college's most engaged alumni, ensuring they feel recognized, informed, and connected to the students and programs they support.
- Plan and execute recognition moments, such as notes, calls, and small gestures, that reinforce alumni's ongoing connection to the college.
Vetting & Engagement Matching - 20%
- Assess each alumnus's interests, expertise, and availability against the college's menu of engagement opportunities, determining the best fit for both the alumnus and the college.
- Maintain accurate data reflecting engagement history, interests, and relationship notes.
- Hand off matched alumni to the Assistant Dean for Career Development and External Engagement for program-level scheduling and execution, ensuring a smooth transition from first contact to active participation.
Internal Coordination & Reporting - 10%
- Coordinate with College leadership and staff to keep alumni engagement efforts aligned and non-duplicative.
- Track and report on outreach volume, relationship growth, and stewardship activity to the Assistant Dean for Career Development and External Engagement.
- Represent the college's alumni engagement strategy in relevant meetings and planning conversations.
