Advocates is seeking a creative and compassionate Mentor (DSP/1:1 support staff) to work with a gifted school-aged young man with a developmental disability. This position requires behavioral support. In this rewarding role, you will help him develop key independent living skills, strengthen communication and social interaction skills, and participate in social, recreational, and community-based activities. His interests include outdoor activities, playing video games, going to the movies, dining out, and exploring new places. The ideal candidate for the DSP position will be reliable, enthusiastic, creative, and active. Related experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred but not required. Candidate must possess a keen sense of attention to detail, especially when electronically logging each day's time, mileage, and service documentation. DSP must have a valid email address.
Hours and days of work
A total of 5 hours per week are available weekdays (3 PM - 8 PM)
Pay rate: $21.30 per hour when providing direct support. The hourly rate for indirect/training is $16 per hour.
Location: Cortland, NY
