ABOUT THE ROLE
Join an employment law defense practice as a Partner, representing California school districts and advising education-sector leaders. This role combines complex litigation with proactive counsel on employment compliance, helping public institutions manage legal risk.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Defend school districts in employment claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and related disputes.
- Manage agency complaints, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and settlement negotiations.
- Advise school boards, superintendents, and HR teams on employment laws, education regulations, discipline, hiring, and labor relations.
- Draft and review employment policies, handbooks, contracts, and compliance materials, including wage and hour audits.
- Deliver training to administrators and HR staff on employee relations, compliance, and litigation risk.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- At least 10 years of employment law experience, with a strong employer-side litigation defense background.
- School district defense experience and extensive experience with PAGA matters.
- Experience with employment compliance documents, wage and hour audits, and public entity matters.
- Civil trial experience as first or second chair; trial experience is preferred.
- Juris Doctor degree and active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
- Strong research, analytical, negotiation, writing, and oral communication skills, with a proactive approach to case management.
- Must be authorized to work without visa sponsorship.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary: $230,000 to $300,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
LOCATION
Fully remote within California.
