Who You Are

As a Transport Driver at The Urban Electric Co., you are an important part of the Logistics team, safely moving materials, products, and finished goods between our facilities, vendors, and customers. You enjoy being on the road, take pride in safe and professional driving, and are comfortable supporting the wider Logistics team in Shipping, Receiving, and Kitting when needed. You are dependable, punctual, and take pride in staying organized and accurate in a fast-paced environment.

Your day-to-day responsibilities could include loading and securing freight, running scheduled and on-demand deliveries and pickups, completing vehicle inspections, and keeping delivery paperwork accurate. You will work closely with team members across departments to support production schedules and ensure materials and products arrive in the right place at the right time.

A Day in the Life

- In any given day, you might find yourself doing these job-related tasks.

- Safely operate company vehicles to transport materials, products, and finished goods between facilities, vendors, and customer locations.

- Complete pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report any maintenance or safety concerns.

- Load, secure, and unload freight properly to prevent damage during transport.

- Plan and follow delivery and pickup schedules, adjusting as needed to support production priorities.

- Verify shipments at pickup and delivery by checking quantities and part numbers against paperwork.

- Communicate with leadership, customers, and vendors about delivery timing, delays, or issues.

- Keep vehicles clean, organized, and stocked with required safety equipment.

- Follow all traffic laws, company driving policies, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines.

- Support Shipping, Receiving, Stow-away, and Kitting activities when not on the road.

- Safely operate warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as trained.

Data Management

- Use the company's ERP system and handheld scanners to complete logistics transactions accurately.

- Maintain accurate vehicle inspection logs and mileage records.

- Update material movement records as needed.

- Identify and communicate shortages, damaged materials, or incorrect parts to leadership.

Driver Requirements

- A valid driver’s license, maintained in good standing for the duration of employment.

- A clean driving record, verified through a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check before hire and periodically during employment.

- Ability to meet the company’s vehicle insurance eligibility requirements.

- Willingness to report any change in license status or moving violations to leadership promptly.

- Prior delivery, driving, warehouse, or manufacturing experience is helpful but not required.

- Experience using a Warehouse Management System (WMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, and handheld scanners is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

- The ability to lift 50 lbs. or more, frequently each day.

- Ability to sit for extended periods while driving and to stand, bend, and climb in and out of vehicles throughout the day.

- Ability to operate a forklift or be trained to do so.

Personal Protective Equipment Required

- Steel Toe Boots (company provided voucher each year)
