Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Four (4) years of directly related full-time administrative experience. Experience working with college students. Experience planning and executing events. Experience managing programs or projects. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google applications.

Brief Description of Duties\:

Established in 2002, the Center for Inclusive Education (CIE) has been dedicated to supporting scholars financially, academically, and socially, while fostering an environment that prioritizes inclusion at the highest levels of research and scholarship. Under the direction of the Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, the CIE Program Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating initiatives to enhance the retention and professional development of scholars who have faced significant challenges in pursuit of their education.

Key responsibilities include the planning and execution of evidence-based initiatives, interventions, and high-visibility events; overseeing all CIE alumni engagement activities, including serving as the primary liaison to the Alumni Board and SBU Advancement; top-level service to constituents; evaluation and analysis of program-relevant research and data; support in writing, implementation, and submission of grant proposals; documentation of program results in publications, annual reports and other evaluation tools; associated business transactions; budget management, supervision of student personnel, and all related administrative duties. The incumbent must have experience working successfully both independently and as part of a team, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving; strong organizational and time management skills, and exceptional attention to detail; experience effectively working concurrently on multiple projects with a high degree of accuracy and organization; the skills and experience to advise doctoral-level students, particularly those from underrepresented backgrounds; and strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

- Program Management\: Provide day-to-day management of CIE initiatives to enhance student retention and professional development (e.g., Community of Student Mentors, CIE SBU Scholars) Oversee all alumni engagement activities, serving as the chief liaison between the CIE, the Alumni Board, and SBU Advancement to coordinate fundraising, strategic outreach, and alumni-student mentoring pipelines. Duties will include\: program development and operations, documentation of project results, planning and execution of high visibility activities, participation in meetings both on and off-campus, collection and analysis of relevant data, writing of reports, associated business transactions, all administrative duties, budget management, student advisement, supervision of student personnel, close monitoring of event attendance to ensure maximal participation, and continued seeking of opportunities to improve measurable outcomes. The incumbent will stay informed about all relevant University policies and procedures related to program administration. Travel to meetings and conferences on behalf of the office as needed.

- Student Support\: Provide informal academic and professional guidance to graduate students, with a particular emphasis on domestic and international doctoral-level students. Support student academic, research, and career development. Serve as a resource for navigating institutional policies, connecting students to campus and external support services, and addressing unique challenges faced by diverse populations in graduate education. Serve as a resource and advocate for CIE students as needed.

- Organize CIE Activities\: Support the design and implementation of activities that foster a diverse community of scholars (e.g., research cafes, alumni talks, community-building events, seminars, workshops, conferences, book clubs). Implement high-visibility activities annually to engage the CIE community and broader communities in support of CIE goals. Collect and log information. Assist with minority recruitment activities. Participation in occasional evening events scheduled beyond regular office hours

- Public Relations\: Develop dynamic public relations materials for the CIE, including newsletters, annual and anniversary project publications, educational posters, and scholarly and philanthropic presentations. Maintain up-to-date, user-friendly websites, Facebook fan pages, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts, and other social media platforms to ensure a strong virtual connection with our constituents. Assist with fundraising efforts.

- Grants Development Support\: Under the supervision of the CIE Director, provide technical, research, administrative, and writing assistance on CIE grant proposals and provide assistance to academic departments on the diversity sections of their proposals.

- Data/Information Management and other Administrative Duties\: Set up and oversee processes to collect data on students, alumni, fiscal issues, personnel, and other information on a regular basis and ensure their accuracy and function. Create tables and other tools to support data use in decision-making, reporting, and proposal writing. Develop, augment, and maintain a library (hard copy and virtual) of scholarly sources/citations to inform our policies, practices, and research activities. General administrative duties related to office management (phones, visitor traffic, supplies, repairs, procurement, equipment, etc.).

- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Special Notes\:

This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
