DFA Staff Process Engineer

PING, Inc. is seeking a Staff DFA Process Engineer that will operate with increasing independence to develop, install, optimize, and maintain cost-effective methods of manufacturing. Independently lead moderate-scope process improvement and Design for Assembly (DFA) activities within assigned areas of responsibility while expanding cross-functional influence and broadening technical depth across multiple product lines. Build moderate-complexity Arena simulation models, troubleshoots the Infor ERP system, and drive implementation of process change through to completion. This position requires the candidate to reside in the Phoenix Metro Area, relocation assistance will be provided.

DUTIES:
• Independently lead moderate-scope continuous improvement projects, balancing efficiency, customer requirements, quality, safety, and ergonomic considerations; perform data capture, analysis, simulations, and process changes with minimal guidance.
• Begin influencing design and process decisions for new product introductions and capital purchases.
• Independently lead DRIVE projects with measurable, documented impact across areas, applying Green Belt Lean Six Sigma tools plus Value Stream Mapping, Fishbone/Ishikawa, FMEA, control charts, statistical analysis, and cost analysis.
• Own at least one production area and actively support and learn another, serving as a go-to resource for operators, team leads, and supervisors on the production line.
• Become the expert of build process in the assigned area. Establish Best Practices and Critical to Quality (CTQ) information.
• Provide DFA and process recommendations independently and drive implementation through to completion; begin recommending improvements supported by data to allow data driven decisions.
• Own multiple DFA projects from concept through implementation; independently conduct DFA Builds and author complete DFA Build Reports; collaborate with Design Engineering to influence product design and provide DFA feedback during early development phases.
• Build moderate-complexity Arena simulation models with multiple stations or lines, resources, decision logic, and statistical distributions; use simulation outputs to validate process design decisions, identify bottlenecks, and present data-driven recommendations to stakeholders.
• Demonstrate proficiency in the Infor ERP system: independently complete new product setup and troubleshoot product structures, attributes, MO flow, and material deduction; begin supporting less senior engineers with ERP questions and partner with IS on system improvements.
• Independently diagnose production flow issues across components, ERP, and documentation; coordinate directly with other departments to resolve issues without needing to escalate; identify systemic/root causes and implement preventative actions to stop recurrence.
• Provide accurate project-level time estimates independently and maintain project updates demonstrating solid project management. Plan against Product Development milestone dates, align deliverables with cross-departmental timelines, and re-prioritize effectively when business needs shift across multiple concurrent projects.
• Lead teams by documenting and communicating projects within the department and by participating in cross-functional initiatives; identify process and organizational gaps between departments and present recommended solutions to management; tailor communication appropriately for both shop floor and engineering audiences and incorporate AI as a working tool.
• Advance leadership capability by guiding work teams and influencing outcomes without formal authority, holding peers accountable, and building trust; mentor an intern or less senior engineer and develop the skill to navigate conflict, facilitate difficult conversations, and bring groups to agreement.
• Develop hands-on proficiency across multiple PING product lines and demonstrate product knowledge by independently leading a factory tour; broaden operational perspective by visiting at least two vendor sites, PING factories, or trade shows.
• Provide ongoing technical support to the production floor in the areas of machine malfunction, evaluation, and machine problem solving.
• Maintain technical proficiency in the field.
• Occasional domestic and international travel may be required.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing/Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or similar field from a properly accredited college or university, plus a minimum of two years’ relevant engineering experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is the minimum certification requirement.
• Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, and team skills with the ability to gain consensus.
• Proven ability to coordinate a high level of activity under a variety of conditions and constraints.
• Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proven ability to work independently with some technical guidance.
• Strong time management and recordkeeping skills.
• Possess a high level of computer literacy in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with proficiency in the design software available at PING, Inc.
• Proficiency with Arena simulation software and the Infor ERP system.
• Must be able to read and understand blueprints.
• Must have a thorough knowledge of drafting principles.
• Must understand the principles of CFM (continuous flow manufacturing).
• Knowledge about golf and golf equipment is a plus.
