Job Title: Application Programmer - Level III

Location: Redstone Arsenal (FAHC), Huntsville, Alabama (on-site)

Supporting: The Defense Health Agency (DHA) **Secret Security Clearance**

Overview

CompTech is seeking an experienced Application Programmer – Level III to support enterprise applications and the systems on which they operate at Redstone Arsenal in support of the Defense Health Agency. This advanced-level role combines application support with systems administration, troubleshooting, configuration, testing, implementation, and ongoing operational support in a secure DoD environment.

The successful candidate will analyze and modify existing application systems, troubleshoot complex software and system issues, support application implementations and enhancements, and help maintain the availability, security, performance, backup, recovery, and reliable operation of supporting systems. The position works closely with users, system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, programmers, and other technical teams to resolve issues and translate operational requirements into effective technical solutions.

Work Scope

Key responsibilities include:

- Analyze existing applications and programming systems to identify issues, required modifications, and opportunities for improvement.

- Review, modify, configure, debug, install, and support application systems to meet technical and operational requirements.

- Troubleshoot and resolve complex application, software, configuration, system performance, and availability issues.

- Perform break-fix troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for production application and system issues.

- Support the day-to-day operation and sustainment of enterprise applications and their supporting systems.

- Monitor application and system performance and proactively identify issues that could affect availability, reliability, or operations.

- Translate user and operational requirements into application specifications, including required inputs, processing requirements, and outputs.

- Coordinate application and system testing, validation, implementation, and deployment activities.

- Support implementation and configuration of the hardware and software components required for approved applications.

- Support the configuration, maintenance, security, backup, recovery, and reliable operation of systems supporting enterprise applications.

- Assist with application and system enhancements from requirements analysis through testing and implementation.

- Develop and maintain technical specifications, diagrams, flowcharts, process flows, system documentation, and application support materials.

- Document, track, prioritize, and resolve application incidents, service requests, and technical issues in accordance with established procedures.

- Identify technical and operational risks and appropriately communicate or escalate issues that may affect system performance, availability, security, or mission requirements.

- Provide technical guidance and support during application changes, testing, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.

- Work closely with users, programmers, system administrators, infrastructure teams, cybersecurity personnel, and other technical stakeholders to resolve application and system issues.

- Follow established technical procedures, security requirements, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and government/contract guidance.

- Adapt to changing operational priorities, technologies, and requirements while effectively balancing daily support activities with project work.

Experience, Education, and Certification Requirements:

Experience:

- Six (6) years of progressive experience in application programming, application development, application systems analysis, systems administration, or a closely related technical discipline demonstrating advanced proficiency.

- Hands-on experience analyzing, modifying, configuring, debugging, troubleshooting, and supporting application or programming systems.

- Experience supporting enterprise applications and their underlying systems in complex technical environments.

- Experience troubleshooting complex application, software, configuration, performance, and system issues.

- Experience developing application specifications and translating user or operational requirements into technical solutions.

- Experience supporting application software and associated system components through implementation, maintenance, and ongoing operations.

- Experience coordinating application or system testing, validation, implementation, and deployment activities.

- Experience supporting system configuration, maintenance, security, availability, backup, and recovery activities.

- Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, diagrams, flowcharts, process documentation, or similar technical materials.

- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple technical issues or service requests, prioritize workload, and appropriately escalate issues requiring additional support.

Education:

- Bachelor's degree or applicable equivalency of four (4) additional years of relevant experience.

Required Certification:

- Commercial baseline certifications applicable to this role may include:

- (ISC)² CISSP

- CompTIA CASP+

Additional certifications relevant to application development, technical support, systems administration, cloud technologies, or DoD cyber workforce requirements are a plus.

Security Clearance Requirements:

- Active Secret Clearance

Salary:

- $95,000 - $100,000 plus Full Benefits, PTO, 401k+
