Mechanical Supervisor - Affinity Water
Location - Rickmansworth
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Supervisor to join the team at Galliford Try within our Environment Business.
Ideally, you will be based in or around the Rickmansworth area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.
You will work on our Affinity Water Framework within our Environment Business, who are experienced in successfully delivering schemes of varying sizes, predominantly to the Water Industry, with a focus on clean water treatment and supply schemes across Affinity Water's region.
What you will be doing:
This is a key role with input throughout the project lifecycle. As Mechanical Supervisor you will keep the site safe for everyone, including our supply chain, and deliver the mechanical installation phase of your assigned projects to a high standard. You will work closely with the Senior Project Manager / Project Managers, the Senior Mechanical Supervisor / MEICA Lead and the MEICA / Commissioning team, and make sure mechanical installation runs to programme and in a sequence that supports efficient commissioning.
Where appointed, you will act as Mechanical Authorised Person (MAP) under the Galliford Try Mechanical Safety Rules. This covers mechanical isolations, controlling work on mechanical systems, making sure everyone working under your control is competent and qualified for the task, and carrying out routine inspection, testing, maintenance and site safety inspections.
You will also act, where appointed, as Works Package Technical Specialist for mechanical packages and subcontractors. You will supervise mechanical subcontractors to a high standard of health, safety, environment and quality, review and authorise RAMS for mechanical installation works, and snag mechanical works against the relevant standards.
You will support the design team on the specification of mechanical systems and general design issues, and make sure all installation works meet client specifications, Asset Standards and, where relevant, WIMES. You will work with the client's Asset Operations Team to integrate new works with existing assets, and with specialist teams including DSEAR, Technical Authors and Document Controllers.
You will coordinate mechanical activities across Galliford Try and subcontract resources, work with the planner to keep MEICA / Commissioning updates in the main contract programme, and attend regular commissioning meetings. You will witness FATs as instructed, supervise all mechanical testing in line with the Inspection and Test Plan, and keep all records, test forms and O&M information up to date and passed to document control.
You will support the Commissioning team through each stage of commissioning, support operation and maintenance until plant takeover, and support the 28-day reliability test. Working with the Project Manager and Senior Mechanical Supervisor / MEICA Lead, you will manage the snagging list collaboratively, clear snags and outstanding works while contractors are still on site, and show that quality criteria are met through the performance test process.
Safety comes first. You will put in place and maintain mechanical safe systems of work on your projects, regularly assess new risks and hazards, and make sure your team works safely and follows Galliford Try processes and procedures.
About You:
- At least 5 years' experience in the water industry
- A track record of site management and delivery of mechanical installation through to project Takeover
- Experience managing the client interface day to day, including resolving issues that affect progress
