Senior Data Engineer
Anyfin · Stockholm, Sweden · onsite
Every credit decision, every report to our regulator and every AI agent at Anyfin runs on one data platform. Own it.You'll design the architecture, set the standards and decide what our data means, from ingestion and CDC through BigQuery, Airflow and dbt to the semantic layer. If that’s the kind of ownership you’re after, let’s talk.
The foundation is built. Now it needs to scale.Anyfin helps people refinance expensive consumer credit on better terms. We're profitable, we have a banking licence that lets us operate across the EU, and we're getting ready to launch new products and enter new markets. Every one of those steps lands on the data platform: new sources, new definitions, new questions nobody has asked yet.
The team is small and intentionally so. We'd rather have fewer people who care about doing things properly and move fast because they trust each other. If you join, you won't disappear into a big org. You'll shape what we build and how we build it.
The actual jobYou'll own our data architecture end to end. Our engineering domain teams own the production data in their services. You take it from there, all the way to a clean, aggregated warehouse. That includes the thinking in between: how data flows, where it lives and how it should be modelled for what we need today and what’s coming next.
You'll build the single source of truth. A semantic layer that gives every team trusted metrics and shared business definitions, so the debate is about what the number means, not which number is right.
You'll integrate what comes with growth. New products and new markets bring internal systems, third-party providers and everything in between. You'll bring them in and think through what changes downstream.
You'll decide how data is governed. Who owns what, how quality is ensured, and how the organisation comes to trust its data. Not as a policy document, but as something that actually works.
You'll redefine what business intelligence means here. Not just connecting the right tools, but deciding how BI is built and consumed at Anyfin.
Built for people and agentsAI isn't a side tool here. It's built into how we work across engineering, analytics, operations and product, and our tech team has already built an AI-connected data and code environment. That means our data increasingly needs to serve two kinds of consumers: people and agentic systems that will happily act on whatever you give them.
That changes how you think about pipelines, interfaces and data contracts. A human analyst might notice that a column looks odd. An agent probably won't. Part of this role is making our data assets solid enough that both can rely on them.
We're looking for someone who is curious about that shift and wants to help shape it. Not someone who thinks good engineering means doing everything the hard way.
The peopleYou'll work closely with analysts, data scientists, product teams and engineers who care a lot about getting things right. You’ll drive the work and take the initiative. Around you are talented colleagues who will challenge your thinking and help sharpen your ideas, just as you’ll sharpen theirs. That’s how we grow, both as people and as a team.
They're also generous with what they know, quick to laugh, and happy to change their minds when you make a better case. As long as you can back it up.
This sounds like you if…You have a solid background in data engineering, ideally in product-focused startups or scaleups. You write production-ready Python and SQL. You've run Airflow, BigQuery and dbt in real production environments, not just tutorials.
You have deep expertise in data modelling, pipeline design and warehouse architecture, and you're comfortable making architectural decisions on your own. You can reason clearly about trade-offs and explain them to people who don't care about the details, and to people who care about them a lot.
A few practical notesThis role is based in Stockholm and we work from the office. We think great products and culture are built when people meet in person, especially at this stage.
EU work authorization is required.
If you’d like to build data that both people and agents can trust, we’d love to hear from you..
