SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Accounting Manager for our multi-brand, multi-unit restaurant organization, you will play a crucial role in the financial day to day operations of the accounting department, owning the daily general ledger and bank and book balances and working alongside the Senior Accounting Manager and the Controller. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting, finance, and experience in the unique challenges of the restaurant industry. Your responsibilities will include financial reporting, budgeting, analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure the overall financial success of the company.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Lead day-to-day execution of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process.
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements for multiple entities and locations.
- Own the daily general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare month-end accruals, prepaids, and fixed asset and depreciation entries.
- Prepare payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll accounts to the general ledger.
- Own daily bank reconciliations and ensure bank and book balances agree.
- Own credit card spend reconciliation.
- Manage cash services processes, including change orders and approvals.
- Provide day-to-day oversight and quality review of the contracted offshore accounting team's work, in coordination with the Senior Accounting Manager.
- Analyze financial results and provide explanations of variances against budget and prior periods.
- Maintain compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ensure compliance with state and local tax regulations, including sales tax, use tax, and business licensing requirements.
- Coordinate with external tax professionals and auditors.
- Partner with operations leaders to ensure accurate reporting of sales, labor, inventory, food costs, and operating expenses.
- Monitor restaurant-level profitability and key performance indicators.
- Review inventory accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting.
- Support new store openings, acquisitions, and integration activities.
- Monitor cash flow and treasury-related activities.
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls to protect company assets.
- Evaluate accounting processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and scalability.
- Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Prepare financial models, trend analyses, and operational reports.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Administer R365, including chart of accounts maintenance and onboarding of new entities and locations.
- Lead implementation of accounting automation and workflow improvements.
- Partner with IT and operations teams on system integrations and reporting solutions.
