Job Description:
Responsibilities include:· Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental requirements are adhered to
· Undertake Surveying and setting out duties
· Check drawings and quantities
· Assist in scheduling of materials
· Plan the work and efficiently organise site operations in order to meet an agreed programme of deadlines
· Liaise with any consultants and sub-contracts engaged in the project as necessary
· Ensure quality records necessary to meet quality requirements are maintained
· Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise
· Arrange testing of materials
· Undertake the testing and calibration of instruments used
· Keep a Site Diary
· Fully interact with other members of the construction site team
· Liaise with other function/departmental managers
· Introduce improvements and innovation where appropriate to areas of responsibility · Other duties as required by the Site Manager to facilitate construction of the works
This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Trainee Site Engineer and the range of duties to be undertaken. It does not attempt to detail every activity. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals.

GRAHAM ROUTES TO BECOMING A SITE ENGINEER
TECHNICIAL APPRENTICESHIP Apprenticeships are available at a number of entry points from National 5, Highers or HNC/D awards, we are currently seeking to recruit individuals hoping to transition onto Graduate Apprenticeship, or in some cases a Modern Apprenticeship, which are offered from Level 7 to Level 11.
A Graduate Apprenticeship provides a structured pathway to develop your skills while earning a nationally recognised qualification. You’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in the workplace alongside dedicated study time, with all training costs fully funded. These programmes offer a clear route to professional body membership and can lead to rewarding careers.
THE RECRUITMENT PROCESS:
• The closing date for applications will be Friday 8th January 2027.
• Interviews will commence in February 2027.
• Successful candidates will be notified in March 2027.
• All successful applicants will join the business by September 2027, with some opportunities to start earlier where possible.
RequirementsRequirements:
Technical Competencies
Essential · Currently studying, or planning to enrol on, a BSc in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related construction discipline, and willing to undertake day-release study.
· Demonstrate strong communication skills.
· Strong IT skills.
· Right to work in the UK.
· Full UK Driving Licence.
· Willing to work throughout Scotland
Desirable: · An appreciation of Health & Safety practices.
· Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
· Previous work experience specifically in Construction industry.
· Able to demonstrate problem solving.
