Junior-Mid Full-Stack Developer
LAPM · Bundall, Gold Coast QLD · hybrid
The Company
LAPM specialises in providing top-tier legal practice management, technology and services to law firms across Australia.
Based on the Gold Coast and growing rapidly, we've built a strong reputation for solving real challenges faced by law firms — from software migrations and implementations to developing innovative legal technology products that make running a law firm easier.
We are preparing for the official launch of our new legal cloud platform. Designed specifically for Australian law firms, our product brings together matter management, documents, workflows, billing, trust accounting and more into one integrated platform.
We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Junior–Mid Full-Stack Developer to join our growing technology team at an exciting stage of our journey.
You'll help us build new features, improve existing functionality, resolve technical challenges and contribute to the ongoing development of a platform designed to make a genuine difference to how law firms operate.
The Role
As a Junior–Mid Full-Stack Developer, you'll work across our application stack, contributing to both frontend and backend development.
You'll be involved in building intuitive user interfaces, developing backend functionality, working with databases and supporting application testing and deployment. Working closely with our Lead Developer, you'll receive guidance, feedback and opportunities to develop your technical skills while taking ownership of your work.
We're a growing business with a practical, collaborative approach to development. You'll have the opportunity to see your work make a real impact, contribute ideas and help shape a product as it evolves.
The role offers flexible remote working, alongside regular collaboration days at our Gold Coast office.
What You’ll Do
- Feature Development: Write clean, maintainable code to implement new features across the front-end and back-end.
- Bug Fixing & Maintenance: Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve performance bottlenecks, UI glitches, and functional bugs, tracing issues to their root cause.
- Database Work: Write and optimise SQL queries and help ensure the accuracy of billing and accounting data.
- Testing: Write and maintain automated tests to keep our platform stable.
- Collaboration: Participate in code reviews, daily stand-ups, and brainstorming sessions to improve platform functionality.
- Documentation: Keep codebase documentation up to date to ensure seamless scaling as the team grows.
What We’re Looking For
We're looking for someone with a solid foundation in software development, strong problem-solving skills and a genuine interest in building great software.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Experience: Approximately 2–4 years of experience developing web applications, whether commercially or through a strong portfolio of practical projects.
- Technical Skills: Experience with Python and/or TypeScript, with a willingness to work across both. Our technology stack includes Python (FastAPI), React / Next.js, TypeScript and PostgreSQL.
- Database Knowledge: Sound SQL skills, including the ability to understand, write and troubleshoot queries.
- Cloud Awareness: Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and debugging skills, with the ability to investigate issues, understand existing code and develop practical solutions.
- Code Quality: An understanding of clean coding principles, version control and good software development practices.
- Security Awareness: An appreciation of data privacy, application security and the importance of protecting sensitive client information.
- Communication & Collaboration: The ability to communicate effectively, ask questions, receive feedback and work as part of a collaborative team.
- Working Rights: Full working rights in Australia.
You don't need to know everything from day one. We're equally interested in your ability to learn, your approach to solving problems and your willingness to develop your skills.
Nice-to-Haves
Experience or exposure to any of the following would be advantageous:
- Automated testing frameworks and testing practices.
- CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes and AWS infrastructure.
- Accounting, billing, financial or other data-intensive software applications.
- AI APIs, integrations or AI-assisted development tools.
- Legal technology, fintech, cybersecurity or other industries where data accuracy and security are critical.
The Person
Beyond your technical skills, we're looking for someone who enjoys building software, solving problems and being part of a team that takes pride in what it delivers.
You'll be someone who:
- Enjoys solving problems — you're naturally curious, like understanding how things work and aren't afraid to investigate a challenge.
- Takes pride in your work — you care about writing quality code, getting the details right and delivering functionality that works as intended.
- Is keen to learn and grow — you're open to feedback, willing to ask questions and motivated to continually improve your technical skills.
- Shows initiative — you're comfortable working through problems independently while knowing when to seek guidance or collaborate with others.
- Thinks beyond the code — you understand that great software isn't just about technical functionality; it's about creating a better experience for the people using it.
- Works well with others — you're approachable, communicate clearly and enjoy contributing to a collaborative development environment.
- Embraces change — you're adaptable, open to new ideas and comfortable working in a growing business where priorities and opportunities evolve.
- Wants to make an impact — you're excited by the opportunity to contribute to a product, see your work come to life and help shape its future.
Most importantly, you'll care about what you're building and the people using it.
We're not developing software for the sake of it. We're building technology that solves real problems for Australian law firms, and we want someone who shares that focus.
