Location: Buffalo and surrounding areas, NY

Compensation: $26.00-$35.00 per hour

What We Are Looking For

NOCO is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Generator Installation & Service Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of standby generator systems and related equipment.

The ideal candidate is a safety-conscious, dependable professional with strong electrical aptitude who enjoys working directly with customers and providing exceptional service. This role plays a critical part in ensuring customers have safe, reliable backup power solutions and a positive installation and service experience from start to finish.

You’ll be a key member of our Energy Products team, joining a company with a long-standing history in the energy industry and a strong commitment to safety, training, and employee growth.

What You Will Do

- Install standby generator systems according to manufacturer specifications, applicable electrical codes, and company standards.

- Install and connect automatic transfer switches, electrical wiring, fuel connections, and related system components.

- Perform startup, commissioning, testing, and customer demonstrations for newly installed systems.

- Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and routine service on generator systems.

- Diagnose and repair electrical, control, fuel, and mechanical issues affecting generator performance.

- Troubleshoot generators, automatic transfer switches, battery systems, and associated components.

- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, installation manuals, and technical documentation.

- Complete required service reports, inspection forms, and maintenance documentation accurately and timely.

- Transport equipment, materials, tools, and supplies safely to and from job sites.

- Maintain service vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory in a clean and organized manner.

- Communicate professionally with homeowners regarding system operation, maintenance recommendations, repairs, and service needs.

- Collaborate with internal teams and subcontractors to ensure efficient project completion and customer satisfaction.

- Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, manufacturer requirements, and National Electrical Code (NEC) standards.

- Participate in ongoing training to stay current on generator technologies, installation techniques, and industry best practices.

- Support emergency service response and participate in an on-call rotation as required. On-call duties may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency weather events.

What You Will Need

- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.

- 2+ years of generator installation, electrical service, residential/commerical electrical, HVAC, mechanical, or related field experience preferred.

- Knowledge of residentialcommercial electrical systems, NEC requirements, and applicable safety standards.

- Experience installing, servicing, or troubleshooting standby generator systems preferred.

- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.

- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

- Excellent customer service and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

- Professional, dependable, and safety-focused work ethic.

- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

- Ability to obtain manufacturer certifications as required.

- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 100 pounds.

- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate job sites safely.

- Ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods.
