IT SECURITY SPECIALIST

CLASSIFICATION PURPOSE:
The primary purpose of the IT Security Specialist classification is to identify, escalate, and communicate any attempted unauthorized accesses or intrusions within the Clerk of Courts IT environment.
JOB DUTIES:
Responsible for providing security focused input and general oversight to the asset management lifecycle for software, computers, printers, and other IT assets supported by the IT Division. Independently identifies, researches, and troubleshoots security related issues as necessary and escalates problems in accordance with defined procedures as needed. Works with the Service Desk team to salvage hardware properly and securely. Oversees asset, inventory, and security audits within the Clerk’s office. Generates security training materials to assist with ensuring proactive cyber security prevention.
Provides security related input and assistance with the procurement process as it relates to hardware and software purchases. Provides support for account administration, including account setup, maintenance, and removal. Responsible for maintaining the accuracy and currency of Active Directory information. Proposes technical and security-oriented process improvement recommendations within the scope of assigned work. Maintains and contributes to the IT knowledge base as needed, including the documentation of best practices to help ensure consistent delivery of support.
Identifies and attends training and obtains certifications necessary to maintain technical expertise required to complete assigned duties. Provides regular communication of project status, capacity, and progress to project teams. Provides thorough communications when providing updates to stakeholders as documented in IT policies and procedures. Actively manages her/his workload as needed to complete assigned tasks in a timely, accurate, and courteous manner. Maintains regular and predictable attendance.

MAJOR WORKER CHARACTERISTICS:

MINIMUM CLASS QUALIFICATIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field with three (3) years of information technology, computer science, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

None required.
UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
May need to travel to meetings, training sessions, or other work-related appointments. May be required to work evenings, weekends, or holidays.
