About Us
At You.com, we are building the AI Search Infrastructure that powers modern AI systems. Our goal is to create the trusted knowledge layer that agents, applications, and enterprises rely on to retrieve real-time, accurate, and citation-backed information.
Our platform combines proprietary vertical indexes with LLM-optimized retrieval systems to power AI agents, applications, and enterprise workflows. We are solving hard problems across search, large language models, and large-scale infrastructure to make AI systems more reliable, transparent, and useful.
Our team includes engineers, researchers, product builders, and operators who care about solving meaningful problems and delivering real-world impact. Whether you are improving core infrastructure, shaping product experiences, or helping bring new AI capabilities to market, your work will help define how modern AI finds and uses knowledge.
About the Role
You.com’s Search, Contents, and Research APIs are becoming the default retrieval layer inside AI agents, coding tools, and agent frameworks. In this role, you will build in public to make developers reach for them first.
This is a builder role. You will ship demos, sample apps, integrations, and open-source contributions; record yourself doing it; write about it; and take it to the places developers already spend their time, including GitHub, Discord, Reddit, X, livestreams, meetups, and conference stages. You will also be the technical and creative voice behind our hackathons and developer events, deciding which ones are worth doing and what builders should make there.
You will sit on the Developer-Led Growth (DLG) team alongside DLG engineering, partnerships, events, and brand. Success isn’t measured by attendance or impressions. It’s measured by developers who build something real with You.com, come back, and bring others with them.
Responsibilities
- Build demos, sample apps, starter kits, and reference integrations across the agent stack (MCP, agent frameworks, coding agents and harnesses, IDE and plugin marketplaces), each designed to get a developer from curious to a first API call in minutes
- Contribute You.com integrations, fixes, and examples to open-source projects, turning each one into something other developers can learn from
- Turn launches and integrations into content developers actually want, including short videos, livestreams, walkthroughs, tutorials, technical blog posts, and docs improvements; when we ship a new integration, you’ll record setting it up in a real project the same day
- Own You.com’s developer presence on Discord and Reddit: answer questions, start conversations, stream what you’re building, and co-build with our engineers in the open (automation handles support triage; you’re the human people come to talk to)
- Show up authentically in the other communities where AI builders gather, including partner Discords, open-source repos, and forums
- Build a You.com-specific community of builders who actively use our APIs, rather than borrowing someone else’s audience
- Partner with our Brand and Social team on X and LinkedIn, bringing the technical content and credibility to the channels they own
- Shape the programming for our hackathons and developer events, including themes, partner pairings, and challenges that produce genuinely new builds on the floor rather than pre-built projects with our API bolted on, while our Events and Partnerships team runs logistics
- Own the DLG side-event calendar around major conferences, using the company’s master events list to decide where we show up and what we do there
- Speak at conferences and meetups, write strong CFPs, and help our engineers land talks of their own
- Use your network to fill rooms and get You.com featured on the podcasts, streams, and newsletters developers follow
- Build a champion program that empowers technical builders to host You.com meetups, workshops, and demo nights in their own cities and countries, backed by our budget, content, and logistical support
- Identify power users and help them become contributors, speakers, and long-term advocates
- Create feedback loops with Product and Engineering, surfacing friction points, recurring questions, missing integrations, and new use cases
- Set and own goals that reflect real adoption, including signups, activation, and API usage sourced from community channels, repeat builders, and active champions
Qualifications
- Engineering background with hands-on experience shipping real code in Python and/or TypeScript
- Experience building with LLM APIs, agents, MCP, and modern AI developer tools, with the depth to hold your own in technical conversations with senior engineers
- Visible track record of building in public through GitHub, blog posts, videos, livestreams, or talks
- Deep connections in the developer and open-source community, at minimum on the West Coast, with national or global reach a plus
- Experience speaking at conferences and organizing meetups, hackathons, or technical conferences
- Fast, strong writer who genuinely enjoys writing a lot, and is comfortable on camera, on stream, and on podcasts
- An authentic, low-hype voice that developers trust because it doesn’t sound like marketing
- Highly proactive and comfortable building programs from scratch rather than inheriting an established playbook
- Prior DevRel or developer evangelism experience at a developer tools, API, AI infrastructure, or open-source company strongly preferred
- An existing following on GitHub, X, YouTube, or Twitch is a plus
- Experience running an ambassador or champion program is a plus
- Contributions to popular agent frameworks or AI developer tools are a plus
