Position Summary
- Location: REMOTE but will travel to all AZ Locations (as needed)
- Reports To: Facilities & Property Manager
- Work Category: Full-time/Regular, On-site
The Building Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, repair, appearance, and overall functionality of Skin and Cancer Institute facilities and properties throughout Arizona and surrounding markets. This hands-on position requires experience in building maintenance, minor construction, vendor coordination, property inspections, and emergency response. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple facility-related tasks with minimal supervision.WHAT YOU'LL DO
Facility Maintenance
- Perform general building maintenance and repairs.
- Maintain and repair lighting, electrical fixtures, and related components.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor HVAC repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Complete basic plumbing repairs, including faucets, toilets, sinks, and drain issues.
- Repair and maintain cabinetry, doors, locks, flooring, ceiling tiles, and wall finishes.
- Perform interior and exterior painting as needed.
- Identify and report facility deficiencies and capital improvement needs.
Property and Grounds Maintenance
- Conduct routine property inspections and building condition assessments.
- Perform landscape cleanup, trimming, and general grounds maintenance.
- Coordinate or perform vacant property cleanouts and preparation for occupancy.
- Remove debris, junk, and abandoned materials from properties.
- Assist with roof inspections and perform minor roofing repairs when appropriate.
- Maintain curb appeal and professional appearance of all facilities.
Furniture and Equipment
- Assemble and install office furniture, fixtures, shelving, and equipment.
- Move and relocate furniture and office equipment as needed.
- Assist with office renovations, reconfigurations, and facility improvement projects.
Vendor Coordination
- Coordinate service providers, contractors, and vendors.
- Obtain proposals and oversee contracted work.
- Verify completion and quality of vendor services.
- Assist with project management for maintenance and improvement projects.
Travel and Emergency Response
- Travel to Skin and Cancer Institute locations throughout Arizona and neighboring states as required.
- Overnight travel may be required for projects, repairs, inspections, and emergencies.
- Respond to urgent facility issues after normal business hours when necessary.
- Remain available for emergency calls and critical facility situations on a 24/7 basis within reasonable expectations.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building, safety, and operational standards.
- Document completed work, inspections, and repairs.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
- Minimum 3 years of commercial building maintenance experience.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and general building systems.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to travel overnight as needed.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred
- Trade certification or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or building maintenance.
- Experience supporting medical office facilities.
- Experience managing vendors and maintenance contractors.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull equipment and materials.
- Climb ladders and work on rooftops when necessary.
- Bend, kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods.
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
