ABOUT THE ROLE
Build and lead the security program as the first dedicated security hire at a growing data infrastructure and analytics company. This hands-on individual contributor role partners closely with engineering and leadership to protect sensitive enterprise data across products, infrastructure, and teams.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Build and own security practices across cloud infrastructure, application security, data governance, and employee access.
- Design and implement access controls, just-in-time permissions, and data governance policies for sensitive customer data.
- Lead the SOC 2 certification process and ongoing compliance work with an existing vendor.
- Threat-model products, data pipelines, and AI workflows, then implement technical controls to address significant risks.
- Create secure defaults and tools that help engineering teams move quickly while reducing security risks.
- Write code, review architecture, and make practical security decisions alongside engineering.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- At least 5 years of experience in security engineering or software engineering.
- Hands-on engineering experience, not solely a compliance or policy background.
- Experience with cloud and application security, identity and authorization, multi-tenant systems, secrets management, and data governance.
- Familiarity with AWS, SOC 2, IAM, AI/ML security, data pipelines, SIEM, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience at an early-stage company or in a high-bar security organization, including work with sensitive customer data.
- A record of stable career tenures and experience beyond only large, later-stage companies.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary is $210,000 to $300,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is available.
