Safeguarding Manager
Rocksteady Music School · Liphook, England · remote
Salary: £40,000 per annum, plus annual company bonus up to £1,500
Job Type: Full Time, permanent role
Location: Remote with occasional travel to our offices in Liphook, Hampshire and Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham.
Rocksteady Music School is the UK’s largest rock and pop school. We teach fun and inclusive in-school band lessons to primary age children. Our mission is simple: to amplify children’s self-belief and remove barriers to music education. We’re currently in thousands of schools in the UK, teaching over 120K children every week, and recently launched in Australia – and we’re growing fast.
We are now looking for a Safeguarding Manager to join the Education team and take the lead on keeping every child safe and supported as the company continues to grow. The role holds Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) responsibilities for Rocksteady: working with our teaching staff and partner schools to address concerns, and continuously improving safeguarding practice across every part of the organisation's work, in the classroom and beyond.
As a Safeguarding Manager, you will: - Be the main point of contact for all things safeguarding, for both internal and external stakeholders, providing expert guidance and support.
- Work with Deputy DSLs to respond to safeguarding concerns within schools - recording, referring and escalating as appropriate.
- Analyse internal and external data to report regularly to the Senior Leadership Team on trends and insights within safeguarding.
- Design and deliver regular training content for both teaching and non-teaching staff, based on these trends and insights.
- Work with the Quality Assurance Manager to continuously improve the safeguarding practice of the teaching team, using results from termly Teaching Audits.
- Work with the Recruitment team to ensure continuous monitoring and development of safeguarding practices when recruiting new staff.
- Review and update internal policies and processes, based on up-to-date KCSIE guidance and best practice within the education sector, in consultation with partners at the NSPCC.
- Coordinate independent safeguarding audits across departments and see through their recommendations.
- Lead safeguarding investigations and support others in any internal safeguarding-related processes.
- Liaise with LADOs, police and other agencies on specific cases, as needed.
- Ensure safeguarding standards are met in all new territories, products or markets.
As a Safeguarding Manager, you’ll need:
- Experience as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (or Deputy DSL) within the education sector.
- Strong, current working knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and wider safeguarding legislation and best practice.
- A track record of designing and delivering training that changes behaviour, not just training that ticks a compliance box.
- Confidence working with data, comfortable analysing trends and case themes to shape future practice.
- Experience building or improving systems and processes, ideally across multiple teams or departments.
- A collaborative style, able to influence and support colleagues from frontline teaching staff through to the SLT.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with the judgement to know when a conversation needs care.
- A genuine passion for Rocksteady's mission and values.
- Experience in a multi-site or franchised education setting, is desirable but not essential.
We appreciate that previous experience does not always tell the full story so if you like the sound of this role, don’t rule yourself out if you feel you don’t tick all the boxes.
Benefits

- 35 hour working week
- 28 days holiday plus bank holidays
- Long service awards including an additional 4 weeks’ pay after 5 years
- Personal development opportunities
- Comprehensive benefits package including discounts on everyday purchases, free 24/7 GP service.
