About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Business Support Officer to lead the provision of high-quality business support within our Children in Care (CIC) and Leaving Care Services.
As the Senior Business Support Officer, you will provide day-to-day leadership and line management to a team of Business Support Officers, ensuring the effective delivery of customer-focused administrative and operational support. Working closely with Social Workers, Leaving Care Personal Advisors, Team Managers and Service Managers, you will play a key role in supporting statutory responsibilities, operational priorities and service performance.
The postholder will oversee a range of complex business support functions, including financial payments and allowances for Children in Care and Care Leavers, post-18 accommodation payments, higher education support, passport applications, petty cash arrangements, Oracle Fusion transactions, supplier payments, Liquidlogic administration and statutory processes. You will also support workforce planning, performance monitoring, service improvement activity and the ongoing development of staff, ensuring resources are deployed effectively to meet service demands and achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
About You The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience of supervising or leading staff within a business support or administrative environment.
- Experience of working within a busy and complex administrative setting.
- Knowledge of financial administration, payment processes, monitoring and reporting.
- Strong organisational, prioritisation and workload management skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Confidence using ICT systems, including Microsoft Office, Oracle Fusion and case management systems.
- Experience of supporting staff development and driving service improvement.
- A commitment to delivering high-quality customer-focused services.
- The ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, managers and partner agencies.
- This post is covered by the statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) (English Language Requirement for public sector workers) and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for the role.
- A DBS standard check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
