Marsh Country Technology Leader – Ireland
Marsh · Dublin, Frame, Ireland · hybrid
Company:Marsh
Description:
What can you expect?
Marsh People and Investments (Marsh P&I) is the Health, Wealth and Career business of Marsh, a global professional services firm headquartered in New York. Ireland is one of Marsh P&I’s most strategically significant markets in Europe, and this role exists to bring clearer ownership stronger business partnership and greater value from the country’s technology investment.
This is an opportunity to shape how technology supports the market’s business, colleague and client priorities across a complex, distributed technology environment. As the single accountable technology leader for Ireland, you will translate business and client priorities into a clear, prioritised technology roadmap and ensure that regional, global, local, vendor and squad-based teams deliver against agreed outcomes.
You will be accountable for delivery performance, major capital investment programmes, investment prioritisation and operational stability. You will act as a genuine technology partner to the Country CEO, COO and business leaders, communicating complex technology issues clearly and ensuring that Ireland receives appropriate value from the technology investment attributed to it. The role reports into Regional Technology Leadership and has a formal dotted-line reporting relationship to the Country CEO, reflecting the role’s accountability for delivering technology outcomes in Ireland.
We will count on you to:
- Define and maintain a single integrated country technology roadmap — covering strategic programmes, regulatory commitments, business demand, and operational resilience — and ensure it is funded, sequenced, and delivered.
- Act as the primary technology partner to the Country CEO, COO, and business leaders, translating business priorities into technology decisions and communicating technology matters in clear commercial language.
- Drive delivery accountability across regional, global, local, vendor, and squad-based teams, owning outcomes across a matrixed environment.
- Lead governance and delivery oversight of major Capex programmes, from business case through to benefits realisation, with the authority to challenge or reprioritise when delivery or value is at risk.
- Establish clear escalation routes and resolve cross-team delivery dependencies, acting as the primary escalation point for technology issues in the country.
- Maintain service continuity and operational stability while identifying pragmatic opportunities for automation, data, and AI-enabled improvement.
- Represent Marsh P&I Technology confidently with clients and senior stakeholders, supporting proposals, service reviews, client conversations, remediation activity and discussions about technology options, risks and investment.
What you need to have:
- 10+ years’ experience in technology, digital or business technology leadership, including at least five years operating at senior leadership level as a CIO, CTO, Technology Director, Head of Technology or equivalent.
- Proven track record of leading complex technology programmes through to successful outcomes, managing scope, risk, dependencies, budget, timelines and benefits realisation.
- Real experience in a matrixed model. Influencing without full authority, aligning distributed teams, and holding delivery partners accountable.
- Strong Capex governance experience: business case development, investment approval, benefits tracking, and programme recovery.
- The commercial credibility to engage at CEO and COO level, making complex technology decisions clear and decision-ready.
- Broad understanding of technology operations, platforms, architecture, service management, cyber risk and operational resilience, with the ability to lead through subject-matter experts rather than needing to be the deepest technical specialist.
- Background in financial services, professional services, or a similarly regulated, client-facing industry preferred.
What makes you stand out:
- You've earned the trust of senior business stakeholders not just through technical knowledge, but by consistently connecting technology to what the business actually needs.
- You lead with clarity in ambiguous, matrixed environments and you know how to hold teams accountable without direct authority.
- You have the confidence to challenge commitments that are not ready, recommend a change of direction when a programme is not delivering, and stand behind well-reasoned decisions. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to move comfortably between engineering teams and boardroom conversations.
- You are commercially curious: you ask what technology is costing, what Ireland is receiving in return, and whether investment and resource allocations are delivering fair value.
Why join our team:
- We help you be your best through professional development opportunities, interesting work and supportive leaders.
- We foster a vibrant and inclusive culture where you can collaborate with talented colleagues to create new solutions and have impact for colleagues, clients and communities.
- Our scale enables a range of career opportunities, with visibility at regional and global leadership level across one of Marsh's key European markets.
Note this role is based in Marsh Ireland – Cork or Dublin – with an expectation of working from the office 3 days per week.
Research shows that while men apply to jobs when they meet an average of 60% of the criteria, women and other less represented groups tend to only apply when they check every box. So, if you think you have what it takes, but don't necessarily meet every single point on what is needed, please still get in touch.
