Responsible for System operations associated with the NERC and Regional Reliability Organizations’ functions with which the company is registered. Ensure compliance with Reliability Standards as approved by Reliability Organizations and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. Preparation of data required in connection with power billing and related statistical reports. As required, preparation and filing of all regulatory agency reports. Supervise the work of those employees operating the System and preparing billing and statistical data.

Efficiently and economically maintain the reliable operation of systems within the System Operations Center.
Comply with Reliability Standards and their associated requirements as approved by national and regional Reliability Organizations and governmental agencies.
Analyze work activities and make changes necessary to meet varying operating conditions.
Provide training material and work procedures necessary to perform assigned work responsibilities. Arrange for employee training as necessary to maintain their skills, and required certification, in the various areas of responsibility. Arrange for training for others outside the department when requested.
Review training programs to ensure their adequacy, make recommendations for improvement, and assist in their presentation.
Arrange for, and participate in as required, reliability related drills to maintain familiarity with emergency operating procedures. Maintain a close working relationship with our Reliability Coordinator.
Maintain contact with sponsoring companies to obtain necessary information needed for continued and improved operations.
Supervise and coordinate the work of employees operating the System and in the preparation of data necessary for regulatory and contractual requirements.
Furnish data and reports to governmental agencies and reliability organizations pertaining to operation of the electric system.
Assist the Transmission Director to ensure compliance with contracts and agreements of the Company. Perform special assignments for the Transmission Director, as requested.
Furnish technical advice in the administration of the Company’s contracts.
Prepare annual operations, maintenance, and construction budgets as required; schedule expenditures to adhere to budgeted quantities; submit periodic budget reports.
Develop methods and procedures for gathering and recording information needed for changes in operations according to agreements and contracts.
Administer prescribed Company personnel policies and practices. Make recommendations pertaining to hiring, classification, and change of classification, rate change and discipline of department employees. Carry out appropriate measures of corrective discipline with employees under his supervision.
Perform duties in accordance with all applicable federal and state safety laws and regulations, and all applicable company safety rules and operating procedures; when supervising others, assure that safe work practices are followed and conduct safety meetings; make suggestions for the improvement of the safety program and encourage others to do so.
Investigate causes of complaint and assist when necessary.
Keep informed of the latest practices and procedures with regard to operations and consistently apply these to ensure efficiency and economy in the operation of the department.
