Commercial Real Estate Associate (Attorney) | Hartford, CT Suburb

Oak Ridge Legal Search LLC · Connecticut, Connecticut, United States

We are working with a Connecticut law firm seeking an experienced Commercial Real Estate Associate to join its transactional real estate practice located in the Greater Hartford area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with at least two years of substantive commercial real estate experience who enjoys sophisticated transactional work but is looking for the collegiality, accessibility, and work-life balance of a smaller firm. The firm offers a collaborative environment with reasonable expectations and an emphasis on producing excellent work without the billable-hour pressures often associated with larger law firms.

The firm's commercial real estate practice represents buyers, sellers, developers, investors, and real estate holding companies in a broad range of transactions involving retail, commercial, mixed-use, raw land, multifamily, office, and other investment properties throughout Connecticut.

Responsibilities

The Commercial Real Estate Associate will work on a variety of transactional matters, including:

- Representing clients in the acquisition, disposition, development, financing, and leasing of commercial real estate

- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, letters of intent, leases, ground leases, lease amendments, and other real estate agreements

- Handling commercial leasing matters on behalf of landlords and tenants

- Conducting and coordinating due diligence, including review of title, survey, zoning, environmental, and property-related materials

- Identifying and resolving title, survey, and other transactional issues

- Assisting clients with commercial real estate financing transactions and negotiating financing documents from the borrower side

- Managing transactions from initial negotiation and due diligence through closing

- Preparing and reviewing closing documents, settlement statements, organizational documents, and related transactional materials

- Coordinating with clients, opposing counsel, brokers, title companies, lenders, and other transaction participants

- Advising clients regarding practical and legal issues arising throughout the lifecycle of a commercial real estate transaction

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

- At least two years of transactional commercial real estate experience in a law firm

- A law degree from an accredited law school

- Admission to the Connecticut Bar

- Hands-on experience with the fundamental aspects of commercial real estate transactions

- Experience drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, leases, and other real estate-related documents

- The ability to manage transactions and assignments with an appropriate degree of independence

- Strong drafting, analytical, organizational, and communication skills

- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work

- Sound judgment and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and other transaction participants

- A collaborative approach and an interest in working as part of a small, collegial team

Because of the size of the firm and the nature of the practice, this is not an entry-level position. The successful candidate should have a solid foundation in transactional commercial real estate law and be comfortable handling the core components of a transaction without extensive foundational training.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $125,000–$160,000. This range is a good-faith estimate and is not intended to represent a fixed salary scale. Actual compensation will be determined based on the experience, qualifications, skill set, and overall background of the attorney ultimately selected for the position.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

For an attorney who enjoys commercial real estate but is ready for an alternative to the hours and billable expectations of a larger law firm, this opportunity offers an attractive combination of quality work, professional autonomy, and work-life balance.

The firm offers:

- A small, collegial, and collaborative environment

- Sophisticated commercial real estate work with established clients

- Reasonable expectations and a strong emphasis on work-life balance

- The opportunity to take meaningful responsibility for transactions and work directly with clients

- A medical plan with the employee premium fully paid by the firm

- A retirement plan with a firm match

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced commercial real estate attorney who takes pride in their work and wants to continue developing a sophisticated transactional practice in a supportive, close-knit Connecticut firm.
