About the Role

We are currently recruiting 2 Trainee Cognitive Behavioural Therapists to join our team and undertake the Postgraduate Diploma in CBT at the University of Derby starting in January 2027. The appointed candidate will work as part of Nottingham City Mental Health Support Teams (MHST). The training involves teaching blocks as well as weekly teaching and supervision days at the University of Derby. Applicants must be willing to travel to Derby.

The course you will be completing at the University of Derby as part of this role is a Level 2 accredited course with BABCP. This means that upon completion trainees will meet criteria to apply for provisional accreditation as a CBT therapist with the BABCP.

To apply, you must meet the criteria for CBT training and also have a BABCP-recognised professional background in mental health or related areas. This means having a recognised core profession or completion of a Key Skills and Attitudes Portfolio (KSA)

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

- Relevant professional qualification; e.g. social work, nursing or a core qualification as defined in BABCP.

NB if core profession requirements not met with BABCP a Key Skills and Attitudes Portfolio will need to be completed

- Direct experience as a practitioner in a children's mental health setting and/or within an education setting.

- Knowledge and existing skills regarding a range of therapeutic interventions and their application to practice for a wide range of mental health presentations. Including a sound knowledge of theory and its application to evidence based practice.

- Good communication skills and the ability to relate to children, young people, families and professionals.

- A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
