We are currently hiring a Regional Security Coordinator to join our team embedded with our client in Detroit, MI!
*This is a full-time on-site position working from our client’s Headquarters in Detroit, Michigan. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, though hours depend on position needs. Because the role supports significant incidents and crisis events, the Coordinator is expected to provide reasonable after-hours support for time-sensitive security matters when required. Additional evening and weekend work may be needed as job duties demand.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Regional Security Coordinator supports the Regional Security Manager in the day-to-day execution of Global Security programs, standards, and initiatives across the assigned geographic region. The position serves as an operational extension of the Regional Security Manager, working directly with manufacturing locations and local management to implement Global Security requirements, identify security vulnerabilities, support corrective actions, and ensure consistent application of corporate security policies, procedures, and standards. This is a hands-on, field-oriented position responsible for supporting security operations, conducting site visits and security reviews, following up on identified deficiencies, coordinating with contract security providers, and assisting with security incidents, investigations, travel security, crisis response, and executive or event security as required. The Regional Security Coordinator works under the direction of the Regional Security Manager and in close coordination with Global Security and the Global Security Operations Center (GSOC). The position is expected to understand the company's risk-driven security strategy and translate regional and global direction into practical execution at the site level.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the Regional Security Manager in implementing Global Security strategies, policies, procedures, standards, and programs throughout the assigned region.
- Under the direction of the Regional Security Manager, serve as the regional security point of contact for manufacturing locations and local management, coordinating day-to-day operational security support across the assigned geographic area.
- Conduct regular site visits to review security operations, identify vulnerabilities, and verify compliance with Global Security requirements.
- Support security assessments and assist with the development, implementation, tracking, and closure of corrective actions and mitigation plans.
- Monitor implementation of security improvement initiatives and provide regular status updates to the Regional Security Manager.
- Identify emerging security issues, operational deficiencies, and recurring trends and escalate them to the Regional Security Manager.
- Support plants during security incidents and coordinate with the Regional Security Manager, GSOC, and appropriate internal stakeholders.
- Maintain effective working relationships with company leadership, Human Resources, EHS, Legal, IT, Supply Chain, Facilities, and other relevant functions.
- Support liaison with local law enforcement, emergency services, and other external security stakeholders as required.
Physical Security
- Support day-to-day implementation and operation of physical security programs across assigned facilities.
- Conduct physical security reviews of access control, CCTV, intrusion detection, perimeter security, visitor management, key control, and other security systems and processes.
- Assist plants in resolving security system, process, and compliance issues.
- Verify that security systems and physical security measures are being operated in accordance with Global Security standards.
- Support implementation of security system upgrades, installations, and regional security projects.
- Conduct follow-up reviews to ensure identified vulnerabilities and corrective actions are appropriately addressed.
- Support the Regional Security Manager in monitoring contracted security providers, including staffing, post orders, training, performance, incident response, and compliance with established service requirements.
- Conduct operational reviews of contract security personnel and escalate performance deficiencies to the Regional Security Manager.
- Support visitor management processes and ensure alignment with corporate standards.
Investigations
- Support regional investigations under the direction of the Regional Security Manager and Global Security Investigations, conducting or assisting with fact-finding, interviews, evidence collection, CCTV review, access-control review, and related activities only as assigned or authorized. Does not independently initiate investigations.
- Support investigations involving theft, workplace violence, threats, security breaches, loss of company assets, and other security-related incidents.
- Track site compliance with Global Security standards, assessments, and corrective actions against established timelines, escalating unresolved or overdue deficiencies to the Regional Security Manager.
- Coordinate with Human Resources, Legal, Compliance, and plant management as directed.
- Assist with local law enforcement coordination when required.
- Ensure investigative information and documentation are captured and escalated appropriately.
Travel Security & Intelligence
- Support the Regional Security Manager and GSOC in monitoring security developments that may impact employees, travelers, or company operations within the region.
- Review GSOC intelligence and advisories, and help determine potential impacts to assigned locations.
- Provide local and regional information to the GSOC regarding incidents, disruptions, protests, severe weather, transportation issues, or other developments that may affect company operations.
- Assist with travel security arrangements and risk mitigation measures for employees traveling within the region.
- Support higher-risk travel and executive movements as directed by the Regional Security Manager.
- Maintain awareness of the regional security environment and promptly escalate significant developments.
Crisis Management & Incident Response
- Support the Regional Security Manager during security incidents, emergencies, and crisis events.
- Assist plants in implementing established emergency and crisis management procedures.
- Gather and verify information from affected locations and provide timely updates to the Regional Security Manager and GSOC.
- Support coordination between plant management, Global Security, emergency services, and other stakeholders during incidents.
